Shifting Trends in Blockchain education and research with Ripple
Ripple HQ hosted a Lunch and Learn on 6 March 2024 in their London HQ on the current trends and shifts in Blockchain education and research.
Ripple Senior Director Lauren Weymouth, Head of Science at DSF Jiahua Xu and UK CBT Deputy Director Francesco Pierangeli highlighted a disconnect between current programmes and students' enhanced pre-course knowledge. Previously, blockchain related courses taught the foundations of blockchain whereas now the students already have this knowledge before commencing the class.
The exciting new Financial Technology MSc course at UCL which has been co-developed by UK CBT and UBRI to cater for this shift in students’ knowledge and maturity in this space. The core modules outlined below uniquely allow students to deep dive into the specifics of the user cases
- Distributed ledger technologies for record-keeping.
- Decentralised finance (DeFi) vis-a-vis traditional finance (TradFi).
- Detection and prediction of on-/off-chain fraudulent activities.
- Policies and regulations surrounding cryptocurrencies.
- Metaverse and virtual immersive experiences on Web3.
