The All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Blockchain Technologies hosted an enlightening Roundtable on 16 January, bringing together key industry representatives to discuss the burgeoning role of Web3 and Blockchain in the UK. Among the distinguished speakers was Nikhil Vadgama, UK CBT co-founder, who provided valuable insights into the UK's potential to become a global leader in Web3 technology.

The session, chaired by Natalie Elphicke OBE MP, focused on strengthening the business, regulatory, and customer environment across various sectors, including trade, finance, property, and more. Elphicke noted the "fantastic contributions" that marked the Roundtable as a significant step in understanding and harnessing the potential of these technologies.

Prof. Dr Naseem Naqvi MBE, President of The British Blockchain Association and the Secretariat of the APPG, facilitated this crucial dialogue. The Roundtable also saw contributions from Lord Goddard of Stockport, Vice-Chair of the APPG, underlining the event's significance in shaping the future of technology in the UK.

Vadgama's participation was noteworthy, highlighting DSF's commitment to advancing blockchain education, research, and innovation. His evidence at the APPG underscored the urgent need for the UK Government to adopt a proactive stance in the evolving landscape of digital technologies.

The session also sparked lively discussions, with remarks such as "It's insane that gaming assets are treated the same as Bitcoin" and debates around the term 'regulatory clarity', suggesting that clarity could range from fostering favourable regulation to outright banning certain aspects of crypto.

The full write-up of the session is eagerly anticipated, providing further insights into the UK's path to leadership in Web3 and Blockchain. The UK CBT extends its gratitude to the APPG Secretariat, Prof. Dr Naseem Naqvi, and Natalie Elphicke for the invitation, marking a significant step in collaborative efforts to advance the field of distributed ledger technologies.
