PhD Student from UK CBT Receives XRPL Contribution Award at UBRI Connect 2024

Walter J. Hernandez, a UK CBT PhD student at UCL, was honoured with the 2024 XRPL Contribution Award at Ripple’s UBRI Connect on the 13th of March 2024 for his impactful research on decentralised finance (DeFi) and the XRP Ledger.
Supervised by Prof. Paolo Tasca and Dr. Jiahua Xu, Hernandez co-authored the widely cited paper ‘Automated Market Makers on the XRP Ledger,’ which gained significant traction on platforms like YouTube and X. His contributions to the XRPL ecosystem extended beyond research, with active participation in the XRP Ledger Training and Demo Day by XRPL Commons and a presentation at APEX in Amsterdam.
At UBRI Connect in Zurich, Hernandez showcased his findings on the performance of Automated Market Makers (AMMs) on the XRP Ledger, further solidifying his role as a key researcher in the field. His recognition highlights the growing academic engagement with blockchain technology and its real-world applications.
