Dr. Francesco Pierangeli, Deputy Director of UK CBT, attended a half-day session on October the 8th 2024 on ‘Digital Assets: Beyond the Hype’ at the IBM Innovation Studio in London, organised by the IBM Innovation team and Imperial College Centre for Financial Technology.

The event featured insightful discussions on blockchain interoperability, market infrastructure, and digital assets trading, with contributions from experts Naveed Sultan, Marco Di Maggio, and Ying-Ying Hsieh from Imperial College London.

During his visit, Dr. Pierangeli had the opportunity to explore IBM’s Quantum System One, the world’s first circuit-based commercial quantum computer with the help of Andy Hoiles who provided a detailed explanation of its capabilities. This aligns with UK CBT’s goal of integrating quantum-related concepts into its educational practices, particularly within MSc programmes focused on quantum-safe digital asset trading.

The session offered valuable insights into the cutting-edge innovations driving digital assets and blockchain technologies. It laid the groundwork for future advancements in the field, emphasising the importance of bridging the gap between academic research and practical industry applications.

UK CBT continues to support these forward-thinking discussions and aims to play a key role in advancing blockchain adoption, particularly within the context of emerging technologies like quantum computing.
